This weekend, on the CBS “Meet the Press” program, Obama spoke directly to consumers and businesses in an attempt to raise confidence in the nation’s economy and financial system. Some think he is sounding much more as president and that both Wall Street and Main Street now take their cues from him. Do you think that the nation now looks to Obama for leadership instead of President Bush in the current economic crisis?

This week's polling question looks at leadership in economic crisis. Last week's poll asked MPSL students what they think is the most critical cabinet position for Obama to fill. About 37% said the department of defense; 33% said the treasury department; 12% said the state department; and 18% said the national security adviser position. In a similar nation-wide poll by CNN/Opinion Research Corporation, 41% of respondents think the treasury department will matter most to the country’s future; 25% said the state department; 24% said the department of defense; and 8% said the Attorney General’s position.
